April Program Program
In April we will view a video presentation from the American Philatelic Society entitled “The Doctoring of Postage Stamps: Philatelists Beware.” This 26-minute program will offer examples of stamps that have been “doctored” with the intent of fooling collectors. The primary focus is on missing color varieties, with examples of altered stamps from South Africa. The speaker does not provide details on actual methods of how to perform these alterations. Collectors should be cautious in buying expensive color-missing varieties, and one should seek the opinion of experts who have the means to spot doctored stamps. Join us on April 11 at 7 pm.
